• "Before then end of life he had seen beauty. He had trusted and been trusted." This quote shows that Cole can now recognize the worlds beauty and with this he is now more human and has come to peace with his feelings. 

                                       

• "As gusts of wind drove the chill deeper into his body, rain kept falling, penetrating his will, seeping into his consciousness, and flooding his soul. This rain fully intended to kill." The meaning and pain in this quote is so strong. I can really feel how Cole feels because of how descriptive it is. It is intended to pull you in and make you feel a prat of the story.

• "food was energy, and energy was life." This is the moment Cole decided he wanted to live, this was the moment Cole had to provide for himself in order to save his life. This quote shows strength 

• "Cole forced his hand forward until his fingers touched the bears moist white coat. If he was going to die, he wanted to know what the animal felt like that killed him." This quote shows that Cole has come to peace with what he did the the bear and what me did to himself. So, as he lay on his death bed he excepts and feels sorry for all he has done to harm himself and others 

• "Cole watched the the white patch of hair. It floated on the water, and the breeze tugged it out away from the dock." This symbolizes all of  Cole's anger being pulled  away from him and it shows he has final learnt how to not worry about how people see him but only as he sees himself.

Some people have a relationship with their mums like a mother bird and its young but not all people have that luxury to be close with their mums. Cole and his mother aren't every fond of each other, because when his father would abuse him she wouldn't try to make him stop she would just say things like "honey, your hurting him" and walk away drunk as ever. I fined it weird that she wouldn't try more to protect him like most mothers would even if they were scared to death. Maybe it was the drinking that made her not do it or the fear that she might be next in line for a beating. To Cole who had to deal with this all his life its no wonder he turned out the way he is. mothers are there to protect their children no matter what but like i said some people don't have the luxury of a mothers love like they should. I have a really good relationship with my mum so if this where to happen to me, I wouldn't know how I would have turned out.

When i think of this story, it reminds me of how angry I can get when my sister is annoying me or not allowing me to do something. When my sister doesn't allow me to watch hockey on TV it makes me a little mad, when she annoys me I get extremely mad cause she wont stop.

What is the Spirit Bear?

The Kermode Bear (named after Francis Kermodei, who is a former director of the royal B.C Museum) goes by many names. But the most popular name, is the Spirit Bear. 

Many people come to believe that the rare cream colored bear is an albino, but instead, it is a subspecies of the North American Black Bear. The color is believed to be the cause of a recessive gene trait. Scientists are actively studying this.
On Gribbell Island, up to 30 percent of the bears are white, while on a much larger Island known as the Royal Prince Island, around 10 percent of bears are white instead of black.
The Kermode Bear rests in the Central and North Coast regions of British Columbia, Canada.

The Spirit Bear is quite important to Native Culture, as they are a reminder of past times, along with peace and harmony. According to a Native American Legend, the master of the universe created one white bear for every ten black bears as a reminder of hardship during the ice age.

The Spirit Bears mate in the summer, and mothers den in the early fall. The mother bears line their dens with with things such as dried grass, leaves and twigs. This, is for comfort.
During hibernation, the Kermode Bears functions of the body slows down. Pregnant Spirit Bears give birth in their den while in hibernation, Hibernation can last until Spring, or summer. The average litter size is about 2. Though, it is possible for a litter of 3 cubs to be born.

In the wild, Kermode Bears have a lifespan of around 20-25.  A male bear is said to weigh about 250 to 300 pounds, while a female is 125 to 175 pounds. A newborn cub weighs about one pound. The length for an adult Spirit bear, is approximately 5 to 6 feet.

"Actions speak louder then words." I think this quote relates to Mathew because he always says that he won't act the way he acts but then his actions prove him wrong because he doesn't take what he says and follows by it.



"Animals can teach us more then any teacher" They could show us how to be sensitive to others. Animals can also tell if something is wrong with you.









"Whatever you do to the animals you do to yourself" If your hurting another living thing you will eventually regret it because they have emotions and feelings to. If you hurt an animal there trust for you can be lost because they would be to frightened.
